Description: American Barleywine - IBU: 85 - This beer is based off an old Cellarman's manual in England in which cask condition ales would essentially be resurrected or re-carbonated by tying strings around figs and dates and then would be placed within the cask. When doing so, this would allow the yeast to find the fruit sugars and start a little miniature version of fermentation. Dogfish brews this assertive Barleywine to 13% which they then add pureed figs and dates which jumps the ABV content to a firm 15%.
