Description: Belgian Strong Dark Ale - IBU: 16- Unibroue Trois Pistoles is a tribute to the Trappist Monks that inspired them to brew a beer of this magnitude. Although they classify this as a Belgian Strong Dark, this is brewed with a Quadrupel mentality. The name originates from a small town in Quebec which gave birth to several legends. One in particular was the one about the Black Horse (pictured on the label). A local bishop conjured a good devil which appeared in the form of a bridled black steed to haul large bricks to construct a new church. When someone accidentally removed the bridle, the black horse vanished just as the last remaining stone was to be set. This stone is still missing and it can be seen when visiting that church. The beer will pour heavy black, topped with a mocha colored head. Enriched with aromas of caramel, toasted grain and dark fruit, the flavor accompanies the nose very well, also featuring hints of espresso and chocolate. Food pairings are quite simple with a beer of this magnitude; sharp cheese and chocolaty desserts.
